Microblading is a relatively new, manual method of filling in the eyebrow, and is considered to be semi-permanent (still a form of cosmetic tattoo). It's done using a fine blade to deposit pigments into the epidermis. Because we are impacting colour closer to the surface, the strokes appear crisp and very fine. There is no "spilling" below the skin.
The most innovative permanent makeup technique that creates natural hair strokes within in the brow line. Microblading is much more natural looking than traditional eyebrow tattoo. It's considered as an eyebrow embroidery technique that can last up to 18 months.
This method is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows. The results are natural looking, hair-like strokes, whatever the amount of actual hair present.
The pigments used in this method have been formulated to match your eyebrow color that was original, and when the eyebrows are present, blend into them. The results are a natural, flawless, fuller looking brow. Twenty-four hours after initial appointment, the brows appear darker but will fade over a two week period.
It is crucial to have a touch up done, as it is very difficult to predict how well the skin will retain the pigment.
Microblading won't give a shaded in appearance like when we fill out eyebrows in with product, it's going to have fine hair strokes that may make it easier to fill them in if youâd like or to always have a beautiful, natural look.
Microblading, also referred to as Eyebrow Embroidery is a procedure categorized under permanent makeup, but unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, it's less invasive and is considered semi-permanent. Microblading typically lasts 8 - 18 months, depending on skin type and skincare routine. The procedure is done by using a hand tool with ultra fine needles and each 'hair' is gently etched into the skin, giving an incredibly natural and realistic look. Pigments used are chosen to match the natural or desired brow color and skin tone will be taken into account.
How long does it take?
For the first Microblading session, the entire procedure should take about 2 hours. In this session, the brow technician will shape and style the clients brows for client approval. We then follow with pigment color selection. We begin the procedure, once the client is satisfied with the choices.
In order to have any minor necessary touch ups, the client is to come in for a follow up visit. The second Microblading session takes place 6 weeks after the initial session. This session will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete.
How long does it take to heal?
Following the procedure, the pigment will appear very dark, the eyebrow area will be slightly red. This is a normal part of the healing process. As it heals the color will fade by up to 40%. Don't pick the scabs as this might damage the skin as well as the outcome of the microbladed area. It takes approximately 7-10 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. You'll notice the color is very light right after the two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is called the milk skin and is common in tattooing. True color will reveal itself once healed.
Is the touch up session necessary?
Yes! A touch up session after 6 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and outcome will vary. Certain areas certainly will need to be refilled and may not hold pigment during first session. Pigment color may need to be adjusted, more strokes and brow thickness could be added. As the oils tend to lighten the pigment, individuals with oily skin require a deeper shade during the touch up session. When we refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the color for the whole year, your touch up session is!
Can I get my touch up session sooner than 6 weeks? Touch up sessions should not be done until after 6 weeks from the initial microblading session as pigment color hasn't fully settled into the skin. Most importantly, this is to prevent scar damage as the tissue requires time to completely heal.
Is it painful?
Ahead of the procedure your brow technician will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the area, which can also be reapplied during the procedure. Everyone responds differently to anesthetic; depending on the client, the feeling of the procedure was described as light cat scratches to not feeling anything. Topical anesthetics used may contain prilocaine, lidocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine.
How long does it last?
The area will fade overtime since microblading pigments aren't implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos. Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature). Skincare routine will affect the lasting effect of the pigment uses products with AHA or Glycolic Acid with fade faster as your skin will resurface. The color retention within the skin of each individual will vary. Every 12-18 months., to maintain the brows a touch up is suggested Clients can let the area that is microbladed fade over time, but please note a slight shadow may remain.
